Salt production lines

Salt Washing Lines

Washing raw salt and separating the brine before drying.

Overview

Washing removes dirt, suspended impurities and part of the soluble impurities from the surface of the salt crystals. It is usually done with saturated brine rather than fresh water, so that the salt itself does not dissolve during washing.

After washing, the brine is separated from the salt in stages such as hydrocyclones and centrifuges, and the washed salt moves on to drying. The brine can be settled and recirculated within the line.

General planning considerations

  • The type and proportion of impurities in the raw salt.
  • How the washing brine is prepared and recirculated.
  • The moisture level acceptable before the salt enters the dryer.

Information that helps us review your request

  • The final product you want to make and the raw salt or raw material available.
  • The project location and its current stage: an idea, a study, or an operating plant.
  • Any existing equipment, with photos or drawings of the line if possible.
  • The required capacity, if it is known.
  • The utilities available on site (power, water, space), if known.

You do not need all of this ready. Send what you have and we will discuss the rest with you.

Frequently asked questions

Why is salt washed with brine instead of water?

Fresh water dissolves part of the salt itself. Saturated brine removes impurities from the crystal surface while limiting salt losses.

Can a washing stage be added to an existing line?

Often it can, depending on the available space and the layout of the current line. See production-line modernization or send us details of your line.
