Salt production lines

Salt Refining Lines

Raising salt purity for applications that require a higher specification.

Overview

Salt refining means raising its purity by removing more impurities than washing alone. Refining methods vary with the type of impurities and the purity required, and may include multi-stage washing, brine treatment, separation and drying.

Because refining is tied directly to the final specification, we start by defining that specification and the raw salt available before proposing stages and equipment.

General planning considerations

  • The purity required and any analysis of the raw salt.
  • How the brine is treated and how separated impurities are handled.
  • The end user’s requirements for moisture and grain size.

Information that helps us review your request

  • The final product you want to make and the raw salt or raw material available.
  • The project location and its current stage: an idea, a study, or an operating plant.
  • Any existing equipment, with photos or drawings of the line if possible.
  • The required capacity, if it is known.
  • The utilities available on site (power, water, space), if known.

You do not need all of this ready. Send what you have and we will discuss the rest with you.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between washing and refining salt?

Washing mainly removes impurities from the crystal surface; refining aims at higher purity and may involve additional treatment stages. What is needed depends on the final specification.

Do you need an analysis of the raw salt?

An analysis helps a great deal in defining the right stages. If none is available, send the information you have and we will explain what is needed.
