Salt Washing, Drying and Refining: What Is the Difference?
A plain explanation of three core salt processing stages — washing, drying and refining — what each one is for and when…
A centrifuge that separates brine from salt crystals by centrifugal force, delivering low-moisture salt to the dryer.
Capacity, dimensions, materials and power requirements are defined for each project. They depend on the material being processed, the required output, the moisture level and the conditions of the site.
The centrifuge receives the thickened salt slurry and spins it in a rotating screen basket. Centrifugal force drives the brine out through the screen, while the salt crystals are retained and discharged as a moist cake.
Removing as much brine as possible mechanically before drying reduces the amount of water the dryer has to evaporate, which lowers the heat demand of the line. The separated brine can be returned to the washing circuit. In a typical salt line the centrifuge sits between the hydrocyclone and the dryer.
Tell us the material to be processed, the required output if it is known, and whether the equipment is for a new line or an existing one. Drawings or photos of the current line help. If some details are not decided yet, our team can discuss them with you.
No. The suitable design depends on the feed material, the required capacity, the moisture level and the site conditions, so the specifications are agreed for each project.
