Product description
The washing screw consists of an inclined trough with a rotating screw. Raw salt is fed into the lower end together with the washing brine. As the screw carries the salt upward, the brine flows in the opposite direction, washing the crystals and carrying mud, insoluble matter and light impurities away through the overflow.
At the upper end the salt leaves the brine and drains before discharge, so washing, draining and conveying take place in a single machine. Using saturated brine as the washing medium limits the dissolution of salt, and the brine can be settled or filtered and recirculated. The washing screw is usually the first stage of a salt refining line.
